It’s been long years back when people don’t consider mountaineering as a sport or an activity which enhances growth and overall development of human being, instead they consider it a sinful play against life.
Thank God they have accepted it unanimously and we are grateful that its getting popular day by day…
With popularity and the tangible achievements it also included upgradation of resources, utilization of technology, expansionist approach from various passionate and consummate mountaineers and continuous efforts.
What I think is mountaineering is a technique of climbing mountains of various heights by using methods evolved by several mountaineers through experience and practice.
Even though the highest peak “Everest” has been climed innumerable times since 1953 , yet there is always a rush to acquire it again and again, reason is, those who have climbed it wants to climb it again from a different route to enhance mental endurance and technical ability and those who haven’t done so, are anxious to climb.
Mountaineering is undoubtedly a sport like any other sport but this sport includes risk, hazards, challenge, fear and sometimes life, so it can be be called an “adventure sport”.
The climbers play this game against nature, in the turbulent and hostile playground where there is none to glorify and applaud their achievement but they themselves and the sacred mountains.
Someone has rightly compared it with WINE, once tasted becomes addicted.
Unlike other games, mountaineering is not bounded by some hard and fast rules that comes handy in any trickiest situation nor they are laid down in books but retrieved objectively by the climbers through practical approaches.
In this game there is no spectators cheering all the time and applauding with sensational voices that inspires to compete against odd, rather there is no victor or vanquished and ultimately the opposite side is the mighty mountains without any feelings and if filled with anger can swipe out the whole team from the world.
Mountaineers has truly expressed the feelings and impression by quoting these simple lines, “mountaineering does not mean only to reach at the top of a mountain but to learn about the nature, to live with it and explore it”.
“One goes to the mountains, goes to his mother”.
Mountaineering is a sport which teaches endurance, tolerance, patience, courage, comradership, team spirit, sacrifice, adaptability and the value of physical exertion.
Mountaineering is superior to any other sport in many respects….want to know then go for one of the mountaineering expedition and surely you will realise it.
